The service is committed to providing a safe and confidential environment in which to explore and understand your needs and work through your difficulties to help your life work for you.
I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist who has been working full time in the NHS for several years. I have a wealth of experience working with both adults and young people who are experiencing a range of psychological difficulties. The main areas I work in are detailed below. However, the list is non exhaustive so please do contact me to discuss how I might be able to help with other difficulties.
One of my specialist interests and skill bases is in the field of physical health. It is well understood that living with a chronic health condition not only impacts people physically but can also carry significant psychological challenges. Adjustment to a new diagnosis or living with a diagnosis through times of transition can be particularly difficult and can affect mood and self esteem. Having the opportunity to explore these issues and work on ways to live life alongside a chronic health condition is one of the functions of Clinical health psychology. I am also experienced in providing pain management for people with chronic pain conditions and I have skills and experience in the psychological management of chronic fatigue.
Undergoing fertility treatment is understood to be one of the most stressful times in an individual/couple's life. Managing the anxiety at different stages of fertility treatment and coping with the uncertainty of outcomes are just two of the challenges that may be experienced and access to psychological support during this time is often lacking. Likewise, the pain and trauma of early pregnancy loss can be simply devastating but is all too often a pain that is hidden and managed in secret. If you are experiencing any of these challenges, having a safe space in which to think through and process your thoughts and feelings can be beneficial in helping you to feel understood and supported at such a difficult time.
In addition to the above I also work with the following presentations:
Services for adults and couples:
Obsessive compulsive disorder
Low self esteem
Additional services for young people
This list is non-exhaustive; please contact me to discuss how I can support you with any other concerns
